Municipal Law
KBB offers extensive experience in several aspects of municipal law representation to its cities and other public agencies. Several KBB attorneys have served cities in the capacity as in-house city attorney and/or contract city attorney prior to joining KBB. KBB currently serves cities and their related public agencies as special counsel. As special counsel, KBB has assisted cities prepare numerous ordinances and resolutions on a variety of issues. KBB has also negotiated and drafted numerous contracts and other legal documents for projects and advised various city councilmembers and other elected and appointed officials and employees in matters such as open meeting laws, public records requests, planning, zoning, land use, environmental issues, public infrastructure projects, economic and community development, personnel, and police, fire, and transportation matters. While KBB does not typically handle tort liability matters, it has provided advice, upon specific request, regarding certain municipal liability issues. KBB also provides representation in certain administrative hearings and civil actions and code enforcement matters.
