James L. Hanger III
Mr. Hanger joined Kane, Ballmer & Berkman in 2015 after having worked for four years with the City of Los Angeles Housing and Community Investment Department (HCIDLA). During his time at HCIDLA, Mr. Hanger helped to inventory and analyze housing assets received from the former Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles. He also spent two years drafting affordable housing land use covenants that provided over 560 new units of affordable housing.
Mr. Hanger has been involved in the Lawyer Entrepreneur Assistance Program through the Legal Aid Society of Orange County, where he has worked on family law, unlawful detainer, and immigration matters. He regularly serves as a volunteer attorney at the Orange County Clean Slate Re-Entry Legal Clinic.
While attending Chapman University School of Law, Mr. Hanger volunteered in the housing units of both the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Office of the City Attorney. Additionally, he interned with the City Manager’s Office of the City of Villa Park and with the Cancer Legal Resource Center.
Putting his passion for community building into action, Mr. Hanger has constructed several houses in Mexico with the Corazon organization and currently acts as a mentor with the Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter.
